The diagnosis of Nephritis should take into consideration the symptoms and potential underlying causes of this type of kidney inflammation. Doctors will often ask questions about a full medical history and family history (of certain auto-immune conditions like lupus).

A variety of laboratory tests can also be used to inform the diagnosis. The tests may include:

-- Throat swabs - presence of streptococcal bacteria, which may be responsible for acute cases of the condition;

-- Check blood and urine samples for signs of inflammation - increased protein or blood cells in urine and a buildup of urea in the blood.

-- Iothalamate clearance testing - show that how fast the kidneys are filtering waste.

A kidney biopsy is needed if the above tests are inconclusive. Doctors will extract a small sample of kidney tissue using a needle. It is usually performed on an outpatient basis. Doing this test allows a doctor direct access to the inflamed tissue, which can lead to a more conclusive Nephritis diagnosis.

Carrot juice is beneficial in treatment of nephritis. One glass of carrot juice , mixed with a tablespoon of honey and a teaspoon of lime juice, should be had every morning on empty stomach. The juice of just one carrot is also very beneficial for nephritis.

Banana: Banana is also effective for treating nephritis. Since banana has low protein and salt , and is high in carbohydrate , it is very helpful in treating the disease. One can also take only banana diet, like eight or nine bananas a day, for three or four days as a treatment for this disease.
