Medicinal Properties: Sweet and bland in flavor, slightly cold in nature and attributive to the liver, gallbladder, kidney and bladder meridians.
Actions: Eliminate dampness to treat jaundice, induce diuresis to treat stranguria, eliminate toxic materials and relieve swelling.
Application
1. For jaundice of dampness-heat type, it is usually combined with Yinchenhao (Herba Ariemisiae Scopariae), Zhizi ( Fructus Gardeniae) and Huzhang (Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati ) 2. For stranguria, especially suitable for stony stranguria, large dosage can be decocted alone for drinking as tea, or used together with Haijinsha ( Spora Lygodii), Jineijin ( Endothelium Corneum Gigeriae Galli ), and Huashi (Talcum), etc..
3. For pyocutaneous disease with swelling and poisoning snake bite, the fresh can be ground into juice for drinking, the dregs of the juice being used as external application.
Usage and Dosage: 15 - 60 g is used in decoction for oral use, the amount of the fresh should be doubled and just right amount is for external use.
