Mainly produced in Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Shanxi, Gansu provinces, also produced in Zhejiang, Sichuan, Shandong, Anhui, Jianxi provinces.
 
Properties (characteristics):
weet, cold.

Liver, kidney.
 
Medical functions:
Inhibits hair fungal infection (Tinea Capitis).
Ability to tolerate lack of oxygen, improves metabolism of oxygen in the brain. 

Actions & Indications:
For liver-kidney yin deficient type of weak loin and knees, gu zheng lao re, night sweating, spermatorrhea, dizziness, blurry vision, Senile Macular Degeneration. Usually being used with gou qi zi, black bean.
for heat in liver channel with Senile Cataract, use chu shi zi and make into powder. Mix with honey water. Use as tea.

Chemical ingredients:
Fruit contains saponin 0.51%, vitamin B and fat. Seed contains 31.7% of oil. In the oil, it contains non-saponin 2.67%. saturated fat 9%, oleic acid 15%, inolenic acid 76%. 

Cautions:
 Use with care in weak and cold syndrome.
