Distribution:
Mainly produced in provinces Jiangsu, Zhejiang area. Besides Northwestern part and Inner Mongolia, it is found in all parts of China.
Properties (characteristics):
Acrid, slightly bitter, slightly cold.
Channels meridians entered:
Liver, kidney, bladder.
Medical functions:
1. Cholagogue (promotes bile secretion),
2. Diuretic effect,
3. Dissolve stones effect: it causes the urine becomes acidic, the calculus that were under alkaline conditions get to dissove.
4. Antibacterial test: it is extremely sensitive to Staphylococcus aureus, Shigella sonnei; but it is not sensitive to Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi.
Actions & Indications:
Antipyretic, antitussive, quenching thirst, hemostatic, diuretic. Epilepsy; scrofulaceum; grind into juice and use as eye drop for red eye; mix with salt and make into paste to apply to swollen Carbuncle and Eczema.
