Raw gu ya is good for helping digestion, soothing the stomach and promote digestive juices. It is being used in weak digestion, flatulence, and/or foul smelling mouth. When using it raw, it should be steeped in decoction after it is ready.
Stir fried gu ya is good for helping digestion and ridding of stagnant food in the digestive tract.
charred gu ya (jiao gu ya) can also stopping diarrhea.
