China is stepping up its efforts in studying the efficiency of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and special prescriptions to help prevent and control human infections of bird flu in wake of confirming two cases.

The State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM) has launched a working group to supervise and coordinate the study.

With experts' efforts, the group has come up with a working prescription to apply TCM to the prevention of bird flu from spreading among high-risk groups like chicken raisers and residents around the site of outbreaks in particular. Click to read Premature Ejaculation in TCM.

The group is also taking other measures to strengthen the research including collecting information of TCM on bird flu prevention and recruiting TCM expert panels in different localities of China.

SATCM will also organize seminars to devise and amend technical plans of preventing and controlling human infection of bird flu with TCM.

A series of relevant research projects have also been launched to apply TCM.

China's Ministry of Health on Wednesday confirmed two human cases and one suspected case of H5N1 bird flu. The two confirmed cases involve a nine-year-old boy in Xiangtan County of Hunan Province, central China, and a 24-year-old woman farmer in Zongyang County of Anhui Province in the east.

Millions of chickens, ducks, geese and other poultry have been culled after 11 bird flu outbreaks were reported in China.

A State Council executive meeting on Wednesday adopted nine measures and promised continued financial subsidies for vaccinating and culling poultry in bird flu-hit areas and building up modern breeding farms to prevent poultry from living side by side with humans. The government also promised to refund value-added tax on all poultry products until the middle of next year.
