Traditional Chinese medicine views that the Kidneys are the main organs associated with controlling the reproductive system. In fact, the Kidneys are divided into left (yin-female-moon-water) and right (yang-male-sun-fire) with different aspects allocated to each of them. Commonly the mechanism contributing to a lowered libido in women is a deficiency of the left Kidney. In these cases the fluid like yin energy being insufficient causes a dryness that affects the sex drive. When the vagina is dry there is not enough yin fluid to react to the sexual desire.
