TCM diagnosis is not just about the simple grouping of the displayed symptoms, but also about the treatment strategy.
Pulse diagnosis involves the palpation of each pulse that corresponds to each organ in the body. The qualities of the pulse reflect whether there is an imbalance of Yin & Yang, Qi & blood conditions. Each organ acquires their own energy to perform their function and the gentle palpation of the pulse can provide details as to what is causing a particular condition to be in disharmony.
Tongue diagnosis is the observation of the changes in the tongue body, its colour and coating. The changes indicate if there is any disharmony in the body in relation to the organs, channels and collateral, Qi, blood and fluids. Excessive and deficiency of the organs Yin & Yang can be observed on the tongue quality; similarly excessive and deficiency of cold or heat can be seen by the coating and colour.
From the traditional diagnosis, the information obtained allows the practitioner to determine particular TCM treatments base on individual cases. It is also important that for the first initial consultation, it is advisable to bring along any medical reports and X-rays.
