Pubin Children's Hospital, in Shanghai's Lujiazui area, is scheduled to begin operation in September 2017.
The new hospital is the result of a cooperation deal reached on Feb 27 between Shanghai Children's Medical Center and UIB (China) Group.
With an investment of 400 million yuan ($58.2 million), the new hospital is designed to have 150 beds and will offer expertise in clinical diagnosis and pediatric treatment.
Additionally, the hospital will cover disciplines such as ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, stomatology, dermatology, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
All the hospital's staff members are required to participate in basic life support (BLS) training and master three first-aid methods covering cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the use of automated external defibrillators, and anapnea, according to hospital leaders.
Geng Zixuan, chairman of UIB (China) Group, said that the new hospital, under the guidance of its international backers, will align itself with international standards by applying cutting-edge medical technology and using leading management systems. It aims to cater to young patients with a wide range of medical needs.
Shanghai Children's Medical Center is affiliated with the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and opened in 1998. It is a top-rated hospital specializing in pediatrics and integrates medical services, teaching, and scientific research.
UIB (China) Group is the China-based headquarters established by UIB International Holdings. The company focuses on investment and management in the maternity care industry.
