Shanghai's Jiading New City will be the site of the latest branch of Shanghai Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Jiading government is working on accelerating the progress of the project.
The project is the result of an agreement reached between Jiading district and Shanghai Shenkang Hospital Development Center on May 31.
The new hospital, covering 6.7 hectares, will be located at the south of expressway G1501 and to the west of Chengliuzhong Road.
According to the deal, the two sides will establish a joint team. Jiading will give political support and social services for the construction and development of the new hospital, while Shenkang will be responsible for its planning, construction, and operation.
The hospital is expected to develop into a top comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, education and scientific research.
The current Shanghai Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, established in Jing'an district in 1954, has more than 70 traditional Chinese medicine experts.
The arrival of the Shanghai Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Jiading is in line with the district's goal of developing into a healthy city. It will greatly advance the development of Jiading's healthcare industry, particularly in the traditional Chinese medicine sector.
Jiading has a goal of becoming China's first international traditional Chinese medicine zone. It will concentrate on the construction of a health industrial park, two new hospitals, three medicine-focused bases, and four centers involving medicine R&D, testing, trading, and exhibitions in the next three years, so as to form a TCM-focused health industry development system.
