With the approaching of Chinese Chongyang Festival, a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) cultural event for diplomats took place in the capital’s Qijiayuan Diplomatic Residence Compound on October 12.
The event was sponsored by the People's Government of Chaoyang District of Beijing, Beijing Diplomatic Service Bureau and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Administration of Beijing, and organized jointly by the Public Health Office of Chaoyang District of Beijing and Beijing Ring-Do Culture. Distinguished guests at the event included Yuan Weimin, Deputy Director General of the Beijing Diplomatic Service Bureau, Jiang Qi, Deputy Director General of the Beijing Diplomatic Service Bureau and General Manager of Beijing Housing Service Corporation for Diplomatic Missions, and Zhang Lixin, Deputy Commissioner of People's Government of Beijing City, Chaoyang District.
There was a wide array of activities featured at the event, including a TCM Experts Free Clinic, a Chinese herb exhibition, Tai Chi Chuan performances and a display of TCM Institutions.
Chinese medicine is a cultural heritage jewel, which contains a wealth of ancient Chinese philosophical thinking that encourages compliance with nature and harmony between man and the environment, and currently is experiencing growing interest all over the world.
Mr. Yuan Weimin, Deputy Director General of the Beijing Diplomatic Service Bureau, stressed that the purpose of the event was to make everyone present understand TCM and help promote it to the world. He said, "As the essence of Chinese people’s experience of fighting diseases, TCM embodies unique treatment methods, which not only symbolizes the wisdom of the Chinese people, but is also a treasure to the whole world."
