As a result, liver heat is created constantly. Heat has the nature of "Yang" energy in the terms of TCM and consequently, the rise of liver Qi (heat) is termed "Liver Yang Ascending".  Because the rise of blood pressure coincides with the liver Yang Ascending, liver Yang Ascending is regarded as the direct cause of high blood pressure and is treated accordingly. Healing is achieved by reversing the Liver Yang ascending direction and bringing it back into balance through both acupuncture and herbs.
