It is used for subcutaneous, muscular or intravenous injections, with the characteristics of being accurate in dosage, quick in action and not influenced by the digestive system. It is especially suitable to patients who suffer coma and have difficulty in taking medicine, e.g. Qingkailing injection, Shengmai injection, etc.
All the forms mentioned above have their respective features and need to be applied clinically in the light of the pathological conditions and the drug properties in a recipe. In addition, such forms as capsule, moxa, press preparation, enema and spray are also widely used. At present the forms of Chinese Patent medicines have amounted to roughly 60 varieties. Moreover many traditional products have got new forms through renovation, which provide convenience for patients and improve clinical effect as well.
