In order to explore the treatment effect of chronic pelvic pain syndromes (CPPS) by acupuncture and its mechanism, we treated 47 patients using acupuncture and Electro-acupuncture on these acupoints: Zhongji (CV3) Front-Mu Point of the Bladder, Guilai (ST29), Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point, Sanyinjiao (SP6), Guanyuanshu (BL26), Shuidao (ST28), Xuehai (SP 10), Taichong (LR 3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point. The chronic pelvic pain syndromes index (CPSI) is applied to grade the pain and uncomfortable sense of patients before and after treatment, detecting the level of prostate fluid interleukin IL-8, IL-10, and tumor necrosis factor TNF-a, analyzing the change and the correlation to pain grade.
Result: After treatment, the chronic pelvic pain syndromes index (CPSI) and the uncomfortable sense grade are improved evidently than the situation before treatment, the grade of IL-8, IL-10 and TNF-a go down remarkably comparing with the condition before treatment, there is position correlation between the grade of IL-10 and the pain symptoms grade, the total effective rate is 89.4%.
Result: obvious effect is gained when the disease is treated by acupuncture, the grade of IL-10 is reduced so that the pain is relieved, the inflammatory response is eliminated when the IL-8 and TNF-a are falling.
