1. Swinging the hands
Clench the both fists gently and swing the upper limbs from the front to the back, first to the left side, then to the right side. Afterwards, drop the upper limbs at the two sides of the body and swing the hands. Repeat the above movements for 24 times respectively. The exercise has the actions of limbering up the muscles and joints, promoting qi flow and blood circulation of meridians and collaterals, making the upper limbs healthy. 2. Massage
Rub the palms against each other until they get warm. Then, place the palmar side of the fingers of one hand on the back of the fingers of the other band and rub to and fro from the tips of the fingers to the wrist until the local warm sensation appears. At this time, alternate the hand to do the exercise again. Afterwards, rub the medial upper limb with the palm from the wrist to the armpit, and again rub the lateral upper limb from the shoulder to the wrist. This is one cycle. 3. Tapping with the plum-blossom needle
Tap the skin of the back of the hand gently with the plum-blossom needle in a linear way from the fingertip to the wrist along the finger, once a day. The manipulation should not be too forceful. 4. Drugs
(1) Hand-Protecting Paste I:
20g of Taoren (Semen Persicae), 10g of Xingren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum with the tip removed), 20g of Juhe (Semen Citri Reticulatae), 20g of Chishaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), 30g of Xinyiren (Semen Magnoliae), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong) and Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) respectively, 60g of Dazao (Fructus Zizipi Jujubae), Niunao (Cerebrum Bovis), Yangnao (Cerebrum Caprae seu Ovis) and Gounao (Cerebrum Canis) respectively. All the above ingredients are made into paste. Apply the paste on the hand evenly after washing it. Do not warm the hand by a fire. (2) Hand-Protecting Paste II:
60g of Gualourang (Fructus Trichosanthis), 30g of Xingren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum) and a proper quantity of Fengmi (Mel). The ingredients are made into paste.
