Infantile spleen is constantly insufficient in function. Besides, the infantile excessive ingestion of fat and sweet food due to the ignorance of  controlling the diet, or improper feeding may cause the gastric inability to receive more food and the splenic dysfunction in transportation  and tranformation. If the situation lasts long, qi and body fluid will be consumed, giving rise to emaciation and infantile malnutrition; or the chronic infantile disease as well as the improper care after the recovery impairs the spleen and stomach, causes qi and blood to lose nourishment, resulting in infantile malnutrition. In addition, the kidney is the congenital base of life while the spleen and stomach are the acquired one. If the kidney is congenitally weak, or the spleen and stomach are postnatally unhealthy, the insufficent intake of cereal essence may bring about malnutrition, too.
