Essentials for diagnosis
(1) The disease occurs in cold seasons. The patient has the history of very low room temperature or improper heat preservation; the patient has the history of severe infection; the patient is a premature child or small for term infant; sufffocation, birth injury, etc. may cause insufficient ingestion or inadequate supply of energy.
(2) The patient has poor lactation at the early stage, cry in a low voice and hyporeaction. After the disease worsens, the body temperature is below 350(2 while in severe cases it is below 30'C. The temperature difference between anus and axillary fossa turns from positive value to negative value. Infection or disease in summer does not give rise to low body temperature. Sclerosis and edema occur symmetrically on lower limbs, buttocks, cheeks, upper limbs, back, chest, etc. in order. In severe cases, limbs are too stiff to move around. The patient suffers from multiple organic injuries manifesting early slow heart rate, microcirculatory disturbance, in severe cases, shock, heart failure, disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), pneumorrhagia and renal failure.
In TCM, a disease or a symptom might be caused by one pathogenic factor, even two or three pathogenic factors. When diagnosing a disease or a symptom, TCM doctors must follow the principle of "Syndrome Dfferentiation", and then "Suit the Remedy to the Case". In order to gain a more definite and valuable diagnosis, it's important and necessary for the doctor to learn the detailed health information of the patient, including his/her disease duration, age, sex, height, weight, family history, urine, stool, diet, sleep, sweat, energy, mood (emotion), as well as the tongue conditions and the palm conditions, etc. If you would want our expert to create a TCM diagnosis, you're welcome to contact us.
