1) Roasted ginger (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens)
First wash fresh ginger clean, wrap it in rough straw paper and dip it in clean water; then roast it near a fire until the rough straw paper is burned black and the ginger is done. It is applicable to patients suffering from diarrhea of cold-dampness type or wind-cold type. Its common dosage is 3 to 9g. Fresh ginger (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens) or dried ginger (Rhizoma Zingiberis) can be used instead.
2) Pricklyash peel (Pericarpium Zanthoxyli)
Dispelling cold and eliminating dampness, it is applicable to patients with diarrhea of cold-dampness type. Its common dosage is 3 to 6g.
3) Rhizoma Dioscoreae (Shanyao)
Tonifying the spleen and kidney and arresting diarrhea, it is often used, better parched yellow, as an ingredient of medicated cakes. It is applicable to chronic enteritis marked by the types of deficiency of the spleen or deficiency of the kidney. The common dosage is 12 to 20g.
4) Poria (Fuling)
Strengthening the spleen and reinforcing the stomach, inducing diuresis to excret dampness, it is used to treat patients suffering from chronic enteritis manifested as the type of deficiency of the spleen. The common dosage is 6 to 12g.
5) Semen Coicis (Yiyiren)
Strengthening the spleen, inducing diuresis to eliminate dampness and arresting diarrhea. It is to be parched when used. Its indications are the same as those of poria. Its common dosage is 9 to 30g.
6) Euryale seed (Semen Euryales)
It can strengthen the spleen, reinforce the kidney and arrest diarrhea. Its indications are the same as those of poria. The common dosage is 9 to 15g.
7) White hyacinth bean (Semen Dolichoris Album)
It is a good cure for tonifying the spleen and removing dampness. Its indications are the same as those of poria. The common dosage is 9 to 21g.
8) Lotus seed (Semen Nelumbinis)
Strengthening the spleen, reinforcing the kidney and arresting diarrhea. Its indications are the same as those of poria. The common dosage is 6 to 15g.
