The source is from the root of Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch, family Scrophulariaceae. The medicinal material is mainly collected in autumn, fresh or dry crude one cut into pieces can be used.
Medicinal Properties:
Sweet and bitter in flavor, cold in nature and attributive to the heart, liver and kidney meridians.
Actions:
Clear away heat and cool the blood, nourish yin and promote the production of the body fluids.
Application
1. It is indicated for seasonal febrile disease involving yingfen and Xuefen. It is effective in clearing away heat in xuefen and can nourish yin and promote the production of the body fluids as well.
2. For bleeding due to blood-heat manifested as viral myocarditis, hematemesis, epistaxis, hemafecia, and hematuria, etc.
3. It is used for syndrome of consumption of the body fluids due to yin-deficiency.
