Distribution:
Mainly produced in Zhejiang, Guangxi, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Fujian, Anhui, Shaanxi, Yunnan provinces.

Properties (characteristics):
Sweet, salty, neutral.

Channels (meridians) entered:
Liver, spleen.

Medical functions:
1. The anti-inflammatory effect: Indomethacin (indomethacin, IDM), Phenylbutazone, PB were used as control drugs. Male rats (200-300g body weight) and Dd strain male mice (20g) were used. The feed and water were fed ad libitum. Experimental results show that: 1.1. Acute toxicity test, no significant toxicity. Method preparation: using snake slough boiled water extract, freeze-dried to produce yellow-brown powder. The yield was 5.4%.

2: The inhibition of leukocyte mobility effect: Using extract of 20mg/kg intravenously, the  inhibition rate was approximately 51.1% (P <0.01). The inhibition of leukocyte mobility of using daily oral administration of 200mg/kg for 5 days: the inhibition rate was 33.7% (P <0.02 ).

3. Paw edema inhibition effect: inhibition of edema caused by carrageenan, using oral administering of the herb extract was ineffective. But, using 50mg/kg subcutaneous injection and 20mg/kg intravenous injection showed that using IDM was equally effective in anti-edema effect. After intravenous 20mg/kg2 hours to inflammatory agents, it resulted in an anti-edema effect. In mustard paste (Mustarol) induced edema, the IDM inhibited edema after 7 days of application. Using this herb (snake slough) extract took six days, but  it is the same as using phenylbutazone; there was no persistent anti-edema effect.

4. For vascular hyperpermeability inhibition: dose of 100mg/kg taken orally can inhibit the dextran-induced skin edema. The herb  inhibition rate was 60% (P <0.02). For the  control group using drug IDM10mg/kg, the inhibition rate was 37.5% (P <0.01). The inhibition rate of the spread of pigment extract only was  15% (P <0.05),  Using IDM, the inhibition rate was 72.6% (P <0.01), This indicates a different mechanism of action of the two drugs.(she tui and IDM).

5. The thermal hemolysis of red blood cells inhibitory effect of the extract of 4mg and 12mg was 20.5% (P <0.01) and 48% (P <0.01). That was equivalent to IDM1mg, phenylbutazone or 5mg hemolysis inhibition.
