Called the aspirin of feng shui, mirrors are one of the most popular (and powerful) feng shui cures. The first feng shui use of mirrors is as an expression of the water feng shui element. Mirrors are brought as feng shui cures to the bagua areas that can benefit the most from the nourishment of this feng shui element.
Next feng shui use is to draw into the home or office a beneficial quality of energy (called Sheng Chi in feng shui).
Mirrors are also used to expand the space and create more light, of course. In addition, because mirrors are the perfect representation of the water feng shui element, they always bring the energy of refreshment and calm.
So, if you live or work in a highly stressful environment, a strategic feng shui placement of mirrors will sure calm its energy.
Notice I say strategic because you can also create havoc with the bad feng shui placement of mirrors. When it comes to the feng shui of mirrors, it is always good to know what you are doing and decorate wisely.
There are 3 types of mirrors used feng shui:
1. Typical mirrors defined by shape (oval, round, square) and frame materials (wood, metal, etc.) For example, a round mirror in a gold leaf frame can be a beautiful feng shui wealth and abundance cure and work very well in the feng shui money area of your home or office.
2. Concave mirrors. In feng shui, the concave bagua mirrors are mostly used outside; the mirrors produce an upside-down, condensed reflection.
3. Convex mirrors have protective qualities, serving as a watchful eye. Mostly used outside in feng shui, although can be used inside, too, especially if nicely framed. The bagua mirror is a special type of feng shui cure that should never be used inside a home.
