Tao is the fundamental concept of Taoism. In Chinese, it is written as, and can be literally translated as ‘the path’ or ‘the way’. It is elusive and difficult to explain — especially when we have to do it in written words alone. What we may say is that it is the ultimate force behind the universe, and its working reflects the basic laws of the universe embodied in all existence.
Going by this argument, the principles that govern the universe as a whole also govern every existence. We can, therefore, find resemblance in the system within our body and that of the heaven and earth. By observing how water behave, we are able to draw a parallel on how a man can perform better in a natural way. From the perspective of Tao, everything in this world is a mini universe on its own right. It can be something that we can see and touch, such a person and a bird. It can also be something intangible, such as the space in a room.
Knowing Tao is powerful. It is like having mastered the the laws of the universe. It allows you to see deeper into any issue that you have at hand. As it brings you closer to the reality, you are in a better position to find the best solutions to problems.
