The bladder is an expandable, hollow organ in the pelvis that stores urine before it leaves the body during urination. This function makes the bladder an important part of the urinary tract. The urinary tract is also made up of the kidneys, ureters, and urethra.

The bladder, like other parts of the urinary tract, is lined with a layer of cells called the urothelium. This layer of cells is separated from the bladder wall muscles, called the muscularis propria, by a thin, fibrous band called the lamina propria.

Bladder cancer begins when healthy cells in the bladder lining, most commonly urothelial cells, change and grow uncontrollably, forming a mass called a tumor. A tumor can be cancerous or benign. A cancerous tumor is malignant, meaning it can grow and spread to other parts of the body. A benign tumor means the tumor can grow but will not spread.

Bladder Cancer Symptoms
Blood in the urine: The first sign of bladder cancer is usually blood in the urine, also called hematuria. The color of the urine may change to a very pale yellow-red. More rarely, the urine may be dark red. Other times, the urine does not change color but blood is found during a routine medical check-up. Hematuria may be caused by other conditions, such as an infection, noncancerous lesion, kidney stones, bladder stones or a benign kidney disease. If blood is found in the urine, follow-up tests can help pinpoint the exact cause.

Changes in urination: Frequent urination, pain during urination and a feeling of urination urgency even when the bladder is not full may be bladder cancer symptoms. It is important to recognize that these changes are more commonly a sign of a less serious condition, such as a benign tumor or an infection. An inability to urinate may be a sign of bladder cancer.

Lower back pain: Larger bladder cancers may cause lower back pain.

Home Remedies for Bladder Cancer
Some of the best home remedies for bladder cancer include grapefruit juice, orange juice, mistletoe, spinach, tomatoes, parsley, gingko biloba, beans, carrots, sprouted broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage. Bladder cancer refers to the cancerous state developed in the bladder, which primarily serve the purpose of storing urine.

A number of risk factors are involved, apart from genetic and hereditary factors. These include infection by some form of parasite, smoking, a high-fat or rich diet, exposure to specific chemicals, dyes or drugs, and people who work in the aluminum, rubber or leather industry. As soon as bladder cancer is detected, one should take care so as to delay the tumor progression. It is advisable to maintain a proper diet throughout the course of the disease. Home remedies for bladder cancer are simple and easy to follow and are also efficient in delaying bladder cancer.

The bladder is that portion of the excretory system that performs the function of storing urine before urination. The bladder is lined by specialized cells known as urothelium cells. When these cells reach a certain stage of continuous proliferation, they give rise to bladder cancer, which itself occurs at 3 stages, depending on the extent of the tissue that is invaded. Bladder cancer may grow beyond the lining, extending to the muscles and even reaching the lymph nodes.
