Acupuncture Point Lieque (LU7)
Location:
1. When the index finger and thumb of one hand is crisscrossed with those of the other, the point touched by the tip of index finger of one hand on the styloid process of the radius of the other is the locality of LiequeLU7 (Lieque (LU7)Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point). 2. In the depression of the centre of styloid process of radius, 1.5 cun above YangxiLI5(Yangxi (LI5) Jing-River Point) on the transverse stria of the wrist between tendons of m. extensor pollicis longus and brevis, when a fist is made and the thumb is tilted upward and laterally.
Function:
Promoting the dispersing function of the lung and regulating Qi, clearing and activating the meridians, inducing diuresis for treating stranguria.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-long abductor muscle of the thumb-tendon of brachioradial muscle-quadrate prinator muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the cephalic vein, the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm and the superficial branches of the radial nerve. In the deep layer, there are the branches of the radial artery and vein.
Indications:
Cough, Asthma, sore-throat; hemiparalysis, deviation of the eye and mouth, lockjaw, Migraine and headach, epilepsy induced by terror; hematuria, emission, penis pain, burning sensation during urination, difficulty in urination, difficulty and pain in micturition; abdominal pain and Diarrhea, dysentery, spitting blood, dysphagia; pain in the chest, postpartum aphasia, retention of dead fetus, acute mastitis; toothache, malaria disease, Lumbago, rubella, sudden and severe edema of limbs, etc.
Prescription:
Combined with Zhaohai (KI 6) The Eihgt Confluent Point) for treatment of sore-throat; with Yangxi (LI 5) and Pianli (LI 6) Luo-Connecting Point) for treatment of stenosing tenovaginitis of wrist; with Taiyuan (LU9)Shu-Stream Point, Yuan-Source Point), Chize (LU5)He-Sea Point) and Zusanli (ST 36) He-Sea Point) fo treatment of hemoptysis of pulmonary tuberculosis; with Taiyuan (LU9) for treatmant of migraine and headache; with Zusanli (ST 36) for treatment of syndrom characterized by dyspnea; with Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point) and Shaofu (HT 8) Ying-Spring Point) for treatment of penis pain.
Methods:
Direction: Puncture obliquely upwards; depth: 0.5-1 cun; needling response: local sensation of numbness and distention which irradiated toward the cubital articulation; moxibustion: 3-5 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 15 min.
