Acupuncture Point Shaoshang (LU11)
Location:
Incline the palm, make a loose fist, raise the thumb; at the meeting point of the radial border of the thumb and the base of the thumb nail.
Function:
Removing heat from the lung and relieving sore-throat, restoring consciousness and inducing resuscitation.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-root of nail.
There are the dorsal digital branches of the proper palmar digital nerve of the median nerve, the anteriovenous network formed by the principal arteries and veins of the thumb and the 1st dorsal metacarpal arteries and veins in this area.
Indications:
Cough, Asthma, apoplectic coma, fainting spell, trismus, manic-depressive psychosis, Epilepsy, infantile convulsion; double tongue, heliosis, vomiting, febrile disease, thirsty due to deficiency of blood, tonsillitis in children, vexation, nausea, fullness in the epigastrium, Tinnitus, epistaxis, mumps, toothache, etc.
Prescription:
Combined with Acupuncture Single Point Shuigou and Zusanli (ST 36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of shock and collapse; with Shangyang (LI 1) Jing-Well Point) for treatment of chin cough; with ShuigouGV26(GV26) and Yongquan (KI 1) Jing-Well Point) for treatment of infantile convulsion; with Shaoshang (LU11) Jing-Well Point), Xinshu (BL15) in moxibustion and Shenmen (HT 7) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Primary Point), Yongquan (KI 1) and Acupuncture Single Point Zhongwan Front-Mu Point of the Stomach) in acupuncture for treatment of hysteria; with Laogong (PC8) Ying-Spring Point) for treatment of vomiting; with Jinjin, Yuye (EX- HN 12) and YuyeEXHN13 (EX-HN13) for treatment of bilateral tonsillitis .
Methods:
Direction: Puncture downward or puncture with the tip of the needle slightly upward; depth: 0.1-0.2 cun, or prick with three-edged needle to cause bleeding; needling response: local sensation of pain; moxibustion: 1-3 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 15 min.
