Acupuncture Point Yuji (LU10)
Location:
Incline the palm, make a loose fist, flex the wrist joint downward somewart; on the palmar side of the midpoint of the 1st metacarpal bone, at the dorso-ventral boundary of the hand.
Function:
Clearing away the lung-heat and relieving sore-throat.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-short abductor muscle of thumb-oppones muscle of thumb-short flexor muscle of thumb.
In the superficial layer, there are the cutaneous branches of the median nerve and the superficial branches of the radial nerve. In the deeplayer, there are the muscular branches of the median and ulnar nerves.
Indications:
Asthma, cough, hemoptysis, pain in the chest and back; amentia, grief and fear; invasion by wind, affection by cold, fever with anhidrosis, inflammation of the throat, aphonia, dryness of throat, fever of deficiency type and Diabetes, Headache, abdominal pain, acute mastitis, spasm of elbow, fingers swelling, malarial disease, Hematemesis, obstruction of the heart-qi, pruritus vulvae and frequent urination or dribbling of urine, etc.
Prescription:
Combined with Shaoze (SI 1) Jing-Well Point) and RuganST18 (Rugen (ST18)) for treatment of mastadenitis; with Acupuncture Single Point Fengchi and Acupuncture Single Point Lianquan for treatment of aphasia; with Taiyuan (LU9)Shu-Stream Point, Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of precodial pain with cold limbs; with Chize (LU5) He-Sea Point) for treatment of hemoptysis and spitting blood; with Lieque (LU7), Shaoze (SI 1) and Quepen (ST 12) for treatment of cough; with Yemen (TE 2) Ying-Spring Point), Zhongzhu (TE3) Shu-Stream Point) and Tongli (HT5) Luo-Connecting Point) for treatment of headache.
Methods:
Direction: Puncture perpendicularly; depth: 0.3-0.5 cun; needling response: local sensation of numbness and distention; moxibustion: 3-5 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 15 min.
