Abdominal bloating, also known as meteorism, is a common condition tin which the abdomen feels full and tight. It is a condition that originates in your stomach and seems to travel throughout your body. Virtually everyone has had to endure the uncomfortable feeling of bloating at one point or another since it occurs as a result of your body attempting to break down food for fuel. The feeling of fullness that bloating causes in the stomach is not only uncomfortable but can also be embarrassing as it sometimes results in gas and burping.

 Symptoms
The most common symptom of bloating is the feeling of fullness and tightness in the stomach that usually takes place after eating. The medical term used to describe this is dyspepsia. Other common symptoms of bloating are burping, flatulence, noises in the stomach, decreased appetite and constipation. Symptoms vary in degree from person to person.

Home Remedies for Treating Bloating
Clove Oil and Eucalyptus Oil:
The oil of cloves or eucalyptus is very effective and beneficial when it comes to reducing gas and bloating. Put a few drops of clove or eucalyptus oil in a glass of tepid water and drink this water as soon as you get up in the morning. It helps to release the build up of excessive gases in the stomach.

Chew Slowly:
Always take the time to relish and enjoy your food. Devouring food within seconds is a sure shot recipe for gas and bloating. Take the time to enjoy every morsel that you consume. This will allow the stomach to adjust to the intake and slowly release the gastric juices without overloading the stomach.

Lemon and Honey Water:
Another fabulous home remedy for gas and bloating is lemon and honey water. Squeeze the juice of a lime and add a teaspoon of honey along with it into a glass of luke warm water. Have this water as soon as you get up in the morning. The lemon and honey infused water cleanses your digestive system, speeds your metabolism and prevents flatulence.

Eat Frequently:
Rather than eat three large meals, stick to smaller meals spaced out every 3-4 hours during the day. When you eat three large meals, there is a huge gap between your first and your second meal. This causes you to feel very hungry and you tend to either eat fast or overeat. This is one of the many reasons why gas or bloating occurs in the body.

Take a Walk:
Even after a light meal, it is a good idea to take a short walk for good digestion. This improves blood circulation and speeds up digestion thus making you feel light and comfortable. A short 10-minute walk is more than enough.

Drink Some Herbal Tea:
Have a small cup of herbal tea after a meal like chamomile, green tea or mint tea. This is very good for improving digestion and reducing gas and bloating. Chamomile also has relaxing properties thus making you feel lighter after a meal.
