Taiyin syndrome refers to the syndrome due to decline of spleen yang and internal superabundance of cold dampness. This syndrome is caused by delayed and wrong treatment of three yang meridian diseases which impairs spleen yang; or by insufficiency of spleen yang and direct attack of pathogenic cold on the spleen.
Clinical manifestations:
Abdominal fullness and vomiting, poor appetite, diarrhea, frequent abdominal pain, preference for warmth and pressure, no thirst, light-colored tongue with white fur and slow and weak pulse.
Analysis of the symptoms:
Abdominal fullness, frequent abdominal pain, preference for warmth and pressure and poor appetite are caused by decline of spleen?yang, internal exuberance of cold-dampness and stagnation of qi, diarrhea is caused by failure of spleen qi to rise and downward migration of cold-dampness; vomiting is caused by failure of gastric qi to descend; no thirst, light-colored tongue with white fur and slow and weak pulse are signs of asthenia-cold syndrome.
