Ingredients:
No.1  Wuzhuyu (Fructus Evodiae) 9 g
No.2  Renshen (Radix Ginseng) 9 g
No.3  Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens) 18 g
No.4  Dazao (Fructus Ziziphi Jujubae) 4pcs

Administration:
Decoct the above drugs in water for oral administration.

Actions:
Warming the middle-energizer and invigorating qi, lowering the adverse qi to arrest vomiting.

Clinical Application:
This recipe is indicated for vomiting syndrome due to stomach-cold, marked by nausea, vomiting, cold and pain of the stomach, acid regurgitation; or the liver-cold affecting the stomach, marked by vomiting, headache, pale tongue with thin and whitish fur, deep and thready pulse or taut and slow pulse. It is applicable to chronic gastritis, vomiting from pregnancy, nervous headache, and aural vertigo, etc., which have such chief symptoms as vomiting, pain in the epigastrium and pertain to reversing flow of qi due to stomach-cold.

In case of serious vomiting, add Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae) and Sharen (Fructus Amomi) to enhance the effect of sending down the adversely rising qi to stop vomiting. In case of severe headache, add Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong) and Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) to help bring about the effect of dispersing stagnated liver-qi to relieve pain. In case of dominant re- gurgitation, add Wuzeigu (Os Sepiellae seu Sepiae) and Duanwalengzi (Concha Arcae) (calcined) to enhance the effect of arresting regurgitation with astringents.

Elucidation:
The syndrome results from deficiency-cold in the stomach with turbid yin reversing upwards, for which the method of warming the middle-energizer to restore qi, sending down the reversely ascending qi to arrest vomiting should be adopted. Ingredient No. 1 can not only warm the stomach to dispel cold and arrest vomiting, but also warm the liver to send down the reverse flow of qi and relieve pain, functioning as monarch drug. Ingredient No. 2 acts as minister drug to supplement and restore qi and nourish the spleen and stomach. Ingredient No. 3 has the effect of warming the stomach to arrest vomiting, and No. 4 invigorating qi and reinforcing the spleen, which function as adjuvant drug to enhance the effects of the monarch and minister drugs. Besides, Ingredient No. 4 also serves as guiding drug to mediate the properties of other ingredients.
   
Cautions:
For patients with epigastralgia and acid regurgitation, which are attributable to accumulated heat in the stomach, this recipe is contraindicated.
