1) Pig brain
Fresh pig brain, from whose meninges small blood vessels are removed, is washed clean and used singly to make soup or be braized in brown sauce for eating. It is applicable to the type of syndrome marked by hyperactivity of fire due to yin deficiency with breakdown of the normal physiological coordination between the heart and the kidney.
2) Longan aril (Arillus Longan)
Longan aril is taken raw, 12 to 15g at a time, applicable to the type of syndrome marked by deficiency of qi, blood, heart and spleen. It has a certain curative effect on insomnia and palpitation.
3) Decoction with Dried Longan Aril and Arborvitae Seeds (Guiyuan Baiziren Tang)
Ingredients: Longan aril 10g, arborvitae seed, Semen Biotae 10g.
Process: Put 10g of dried longan aril and 10g of arborvitae seeds together into a small aluminium pan, add 500 ml of cold water and half a spoonful of white sugar, cook them together on a slow fire for 20 to 30 minutes until about 200 ml of extract is left, then take the pan away from the fire, remove the residues of the arborvitae seeds and take it as a refreshment. It is applicable to deficiency of qi, blood, heart and spleen.
4) Decoction with Lily Bulb and Arborvitae Seed (Baihe Baiziren Tang)
Ingredients: Fresh lily bulb 50g (or 20g if dried used), arborvitae seed10g.
Process: Put 50g of fresh lily bulb (or 20g of dried lily bulb) and 10g of arborvitae seeds in a small aluminium pan, add 500 ml of cold water and heat it over a slow fire for 20 to 30 minutes. Take it away from the fire, add a spoonful of honey, remove the residues of the arborvitae seeds and eat it as light refreshment.
