Internal medicine
1) Bi-syndrorne Caused by Wind, Cold and Dampness
Therapeutic Methods: To dispel wind, eliminate cold, remove dampness and activate collaterals.
Prescription: Modified Yiyiren Tang and Wutou Tang
2) Bi-syndrorne Caused by Wind, Dampness and heat
Therapeutic Methods: To clear away heat, activate collaterals, dispel wind and remove dampness.
Prescription: Modified Baihu Guizhi Tang (White Tiger Decoction with Cinnamomi) and Simiao Wan (Four Wonder-Drug Pill)
3) Bi-syndrorne with Concurrence of Cold and Heat
Therapeutic Methods: To warm the meridians, eliminate cold, clear away heat and remove dampness.
Prescription: Modified Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Tang (Decoction of Cinnamomi, Paeoniae and Anemarrhenae).
4) Bi-syndrorne with Phlegm Stagnation and Blood Stasis
Therapeutic Methods: To resolve phlegm, remove blood stasis, expel wind and activate meridians.
Prescription: Modified Tao Hong Yin (Persicae and Carthami Decoction)
5) Bi-syndrome with Deficient Healthy Qi and Retained Pathogenic Factors
Therapeutic Methods: To tonify qi and blood, nourish the liver and kidney, remove obstruction from the collaterals
Prescription: Modified Duhuo Jisheng Tang (Angelicae Pubescentis and Taxilli Decoction) and Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Tang (Five-Ingredient Decoction Containing Astragall and Cinnamomi)
External Medicine:
(1) Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens, liquidized) 250 g, Olibanum (Ruxiang) 15 g, Myrrha (Moyao) 15 g, Moschus (Shexiang) 3 g and Niupiguangjiao (Colla Corium Bovis) 60 g. Melt Niupiguangjiao with ginger juice and mix it evenly with Ruxiang and Moyao. When it is not so hot, add Shexiang to make paste. Apply the paste to the affected part. It is applicable to the case caused by wind, cold and dampness.
(2) Wutou (Radix Aconiti, raw) 30g, Mubiezi ( Semen Momordicae, shelled) 30g, Baijiezi ( Semen Sinapis Albae ) 30 g, Biejia ( Carapax Trionycis ) 30 g and Xingren ( Semen Armeniacae Amarum, raw) 40 g. Grind the above herbs into coarse powder, boil it in 3,000 ml of water for a while, remove the dregs, drip-wash the affected part while the decoction is still hot, warm the decoction again if it becomes cool and drip-wash the affected part again. This is applicable to pain and spasm of the muscles and tendons.
(3) Xionghuang (Realgar) 30 g, Banmao (Mylabris) 30 g and Moschus (Shexiang)10 g. Grind the first two ingredients into fine powder, mix the powder with honey into paste, add Shexiang to the paste and mix them thoroughly, then bottle and seal the paste for future use. Decide and mark the acupoints in the affected part or the painful spots. Prepare some 3 cm x 3 cm adhesive plasters, each of which has the paste of a rice-grain size in the center. Apply the plasters to 4 - 8 acupoints or pain spots, at most 20 spots for all the joints each time. A hot sensation and stabbing pain will appear after the application for 2 - 4 hours and for another 6 - 10 hours, blisters appear. Do not break the blisters. To avoid infection, do not wash the affected part 1 - 7 days after the application. If the blister is more than 3 cm in diameter and the patient suffers severe pain, break the blister, let the fluid out and apply gentian violet to it. This method is applicable to localized swelling and pain.
(2) Measles scratching
1) Head: The holographic meridian: The last third part of the top of forehead zone, the middle part of forehead,
2) Back: Governor Vessel: from Dazhui to Yaoshu; bladder meridian: from Dazhu on both sides to Shenshu
3) Limbs: Ashi: Pathological parts of the joint.
4) Scraping from the above of Heding to the below of knee. First, scrape the Liangqiu which is located on the outer above part of the knee joint; then scrape from the Zusanli and Xiyangguan to the Yanglingquan.
5) Avoid scraping with in 24 hours for the pain in the knee joint of the injury of tissue.
6) For the serious injury to the ligament of the knee joint or the swelling in the joint and there is the effusion inside, the scrapping should be avoided at the local parts; however, people can scrap the points of meridian far away or the holographic meridian in the knee joint.
Cupping Therapy
Acupoints selected: Dazhui, Shenzhu, Zhiyang, Jinshuo, Pishu (BL20), Shenshu (BL23), Quchi (LI 11), Chize (LU5), Zusanli (ST 36), and Weizhong (BL 40)
Methods:
1. Cupping cup: you should adopt close cupping on to suck Du meridian, the urinary bladder channel of foot-taiyang and elbow joint after flash of fire.
2. Acucupping: after the disinfection of the acupoints of Dazhui, Shenzhu, Zhiyang, Jinsuo, Pishu (BL20), Shenshu (BL23), Weizhong (BL 40), Zusanli, Chize and Quchi, you should use the acupuncture needles to prick them and then adopt cupping after flash of fire to suck the acupoints.
3. Cupping of venesection: you should use dermal needles to insert fast along du meridian until the skin turns red but without bleeding, and then you should use three-edged needles to prick arthrocele or extension until bleeding. At last, you should adopt cupping after flash of fire.
4. Medicinal cupping: you should first dip Chuanwu, Caowu, Honghua, Danggui, Cishaoyao, Sigualou, Baiqi, Guizhi, Haifengteng, Chouwutong, each for 15 gram, into the 500-ml alcohol and get the juice. Then you should daub the alcohol juice onto the pathological joint and get them cupped after flash of fire.
