Character of the tongue: There are several shapes such crack and fissure on the surface of tongue, which differ in depth and numbers. If there is no tongue fur over the crack or fissure, the fissure belongs to pathologic changes; if there is tongue fur over the crack or fissure, the fissure is congenital one.
Clinical significance: It is a manifestation of malnourishment, in which essence and blood are deficient, the tongue body is not fully nourished, hence the papillae atrophy or rupture.
