The patient is in the sitting position with his fingers of two hands crossed to hold the occiput. Standing behind the patient, the practitioner props the lower rim of the projected spinous process of the suffered segment with the hemolateral knee, while the foot of this side steps on the bench; then inserts his two hands through the patient’s flexed elbows and holds the wrist to pull backward to the limit position. Later on, the patient is asked to take a deep breath. When the patient is exhaling and his muscles are relaxing, the practitioner makes a sudden and controlled wrenching and thrusting to restore the facet joint by utilizing a pair of shearing forces that are in the opposite directions but not at the same level. This manipulation is applicable to the treatment of the subluxation of the thoracic vertebral facet joint which is located from the q'4 to the T10, as well as the subluxation of the costoverebral joints (Fig 292).Click to read
