[Location] Localized in the prone position or in the erect sitting position, on the back of the neck, 1.0 cun directly above the midpoint of the posterior hairline, directly below the external occipital protuberance, in the depression between m. trapezius of both sides. (Fig.70)
 
[Regional Anatomy] Skin→subcutaneous tissue→between the left and right tendons of the trapezius→nuchal ligament (between the left and right semispinal muscle of head) →between the left and right larger and lesser posterior straight muscles of head. Superficial layer, the distribution of the greater occipital nerve, the branch of the third carotid nerve, and the branches or the subordiantial ramus of the occipital artery and vein; deep layer, the branch of the inferior occipital nerve.
