These acupoints are usually needled perpendicularly or obliquely 0.5 - 1.2 cun. The acupoints near the wrist are usually needled perpendicularly 0.3 - 0.5 cun.
The median nerve is in the deeper layer of the pericardium meridian of hand-jueyin. The electric shock-like sensation transmitting to the finger tips indicates the median nerve is punctured, the needle must be withdrawn immediately lest the median nerve be impaired.
