Acupuncture Single Points for central serous retinopathy

Overview
Central serous retinopathy is a common disease of eye fundus, and occurs in the macula with the characteristics of retinal nerve epithelium serous detachment. It mostly occurred in young adults, men more than women, and in monocular incidence, and there is a clear tendency to relapse and self-healing nature. It belongs to Chinese Medicine's area of "Blue blind", "Delirium bringing the faint ghosts", "Visually into askew", "Visually into small", "Sclera non-whiteness". Chinese medicine believes that the disease caused by emotional disorders, liver-qi stagnation leading to qi-and-blood block, or by long-time-watching injurying blood, liver blood deficiency making eyes lacking nutrition. Treatment is activating blood circulation and restoring menstruation and harmonizing qi-and-blood.

Treatment
1. The sunward Points
Sunward points are component of five points. Sunward 1 is located in the vicinity of mandibular angle of the neck, and symbolized by hyoid bone, to be extended to both sides to the inner edge sternocleidomastoid; when patients is supine, padding shoulder high, and making head a little extention, the operator push the carotid pulse to lateral with the thumb or index finger, tenderly press cervical connective tissue, and needling when eye area get reaction. Sunward 2 is located in the neck, symbolized by the upper edge of the thyroid cartilage notch, to be extended to both sides to the intersection of sternocleidomastoid inner edge, and have the position as Sunward 1. Sunward 3 is located in the neck, symbolized by the upper edge of the cricoid cartilage, to be extended to both sides to the intersection of sternocleidomastoid inner edge, and have the position as Sunward 1. Sunward 4 is bellow the post auricular, 8 fen below the earlobe, 1 cun straight behind, to the front edge of sternocleidomastoid. Sunward 5 is located to the tempus, 5 fen above EX-HN5.

Acupuncture 1-3 sunward Points, with the tip angle of 45° inserting 1.5 cun backward, inward and upward 1.5 cun needle, until the patient get the feeling of soreness, numbness and pain. Acupuncture sunward 4 to the opposite direction to the needle, inserting 1.5-2 cun, and get the feeling to the eye area. One time a day, 10 times make up a course of treatment.

2. Xingzhuang Point
Locate in the neck, 1.5 cun to the anterior midline, between the lower edge of the cricoid cartilage and the upper edge sternoclavicular. Insert straightly 0.3-0.4 cun, pay attention to avoiding deeply needling, or carotid artery will be injuried. Once a day, 10 times make up a course of treatment.

3. Xinming points
Including two points: Xinming 1 is behind the bottom of ear, after in the midpoint of folded skin behind earlobe, or 5 fen above the back edge of the mastoid and mandibular angle depression. Xinming 2 is located in the forehead, 1 cun up to the tip of brow and 0.5 cun to the lateral.
Acupuncture Xingming point 1, with the tip angle of 45°, up to mandibular condylar ear side, with 1-1.5 cun depth. Acupuncture Xingming point 2 with the tip to the parallel of the forehead, needling 0.5-0.8 cun. Once a day, 10 times make up a course of treatment.

Note
Acupuncture of such disease is effective. Western medicine without any treatment for it, and corticosteroid is harmful for this disease and should be banned.
