Localized in the erect sitting position or supine position. On the face, in the depression superior to the inner canthus. (Fig.59)
Regional Anatomy
Skin--subcutaneous tissue--the orbicularis oculi--upper side of superior lacrimal duct--between internus muscle of the eye and orbital lamina of ethmoid bone. Superficial layer, the distribution of the supratrochlear nerve derived from the ophthahnic branch of the trigeminal nerve, the branches or the subordiantial ramus of the angular artery and vein ; deep layer, the branches or the subordiantial ramus of the ophthalmic artery and vein, the branch of the ophthalmic nerve, and the branch of the oculomotor nerve.
