Acupuncture Point Shaochong (HT9)
Location:
Make a loose the fist with the palm facing downwards and the little finger tilting upwards; at the meeting point the line passing along the radial border and the line along the base of the nail of little finger.
Function:
Inducing resuscitation, and purging away the heat.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-root, of nail.
There are the dorsal digital branches of the proper palmar digital nerve of the ulnar nerve and the anteriovenous network formed by the dorsal digital branches of the proper palmar digital arteries and veins in this area.
Indications:
Palpitation, precordial pain, pain in the chest and hypochondriac regions, mania, febrile diseases, and loss of consciousness.
Prescription:
Combined use with Quchi (LI 11) He-Sea Point) for treatment of tonsillitis; with Acupuncture Single Point Shuigou and Zusanli (ST 36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of shock; with Acupuncture Single Point Fengchi for treatment of aphasia due to apoplexy; and with QuchiLI11 (LI11) for treatment of fever.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.1 cun deep or pricking with three-edged needle to let blood out; needling response: local sensation of soreness; moxibustion: using 1-3 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 10 min.
