Acupuncture Point Fuliu(KI7)
Location:
Upright sitting or supine position; firstly, locate TaixiKI3(Taixi(KI3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point), 2 cun vertically above TaixiKI3(KI3), on anterior border of the Achilles tendon.
Function:
Warming the kidney, reducing diuresis, and regulating ying and wei system.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-anterior side of tendon of plantar muscle and Achilles tendon-long flexor of great toe.
In the superficial layer, there are the medial cutaneous branches of the saphenous nerve to the leg and the tributaries of the great saphenous vein. In the deep layer, there are the tibial nerve and the posterior tibial artery and vein.
Indications:
Nephritis, orchitis, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, urinary tract infection, leukorrhagia, lumbago, poliomyelitis sequelae, myelitis, peritonitis, andhemorrhage due to hemorrhoid.
Prescription:
Combined use with Laogong (PC8) Ying-Spring Point) for treatment of psychosis; with Acupuncture Single Point Dazhui for treatment of spontaneous sweating, and night sweating; with Zhongfeng (LR 4) Jing-River Point), GongsunSP4(Gongsun (SP4) Luo-Connecting Point, The Eight Confluent Point), TaibaiSP3 (Taibai(SP3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Primary Point), ShuifenCV9 (Shuifen (CV9)), and SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6)) for treatment of tympanites; and with FeiyangBL58 (Feiyang (BL58)), GuanyuanCV4 (Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine), SanyinjiaoSP6 (SP6), ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of infantile acute nephritis.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.6-1.2 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 5-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
