Acupuncture Point Rangu (KI2)
Location:
Upright sitting or supine position; anteroinferior to medial malleolus, in the depression anteroinferior to the tuberosity of navicular bone.
Function:
Reducing the kidney-heat, tonifying the kidney-yin, regulating the function of the lower-jiao, and removing dampness.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-abductor muscle of great toe-tendon of long flexor muscle of toes.
In the superficial layer, there are the medial cutaneous branches of the saphenous nerve to the leg, the cutaneous branches of the medial plantar nerve and the tributaries of the dorsal venous network of the foot. In the deep layer, there are the medial planter nerve ane the medial plantar artery and vein.
Indications:
Laryngopharyngitis, urocystitis, urethritis, orchitis, irregular menstruation, aspermia, enuresis, acyesis, pruritus genitalium, Diabetes, tetanus, myocarditis, tonsillitis, vomiting, and night sweating.
Prescription:
Combined use with Acupuncture Single Point Fengchi for treatment of aphonia; with Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) for treatment of schizophrenia; with Shenshu (BL23) for treatment of diabetes; and with Taixi (KI3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point) for the treatment of precordial pain with cold limbs.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.8-1.2 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, radiating toward the legs; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
