1. External Medicine
a. Moxibustion to Guanyuanshu (BL 26): Adopt a supine position, insert the moxa rolls in the warming moxibustion apparatus, then apply the warming moxibustion apparatus to the Guanyuanshu (BL 26) until the patient couldn’t tolerate the temperature of warming moxibustion apparatus, take away the warming moxibustion apparatus and rest for 5 minutes, repeat the above steps again, 3-5 times a day.
b. The hemopoietic therapy of traditional Chinese drugs ion penetration belongs to external treatment for internal diseases in TCM. A certain concertration of liquid medicaments are made from extracts of the Chinese drugs. So, when usage, immerse a certain of liquid to one part of the body surface by gauze or other water sucking materials, then put galvanic counter electrode externally to make the drugs penetrate into the skin under the function of elective field and are absorbed by the organism, so as to play a local or general action. According to patients’ syndromes of TCM differentiation, select drugs with functions of drawing toxin and outthrusting evil, replenishing essence and boosting marrow, apply the drugs to Shenshu (BL23) and Pishu (BL20) by ion penetrating therapy.
Traditional Chinese drugs properties, which reach the internal organs through meridians by these acupoints, play pharmacologic functions of drawing toxin and outthrusting evil, replenishing essence and boosting marrow. Human feet have many acupoints, of which blood-related acupoints are Yongquan (KI 1), Zhaohai (KI 6), Taixi (KI3), Shuiquan (KI 5), Jiexi (ST 41), Lidui (ST 45), Neiting (ST44), Chongyang (ST42), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Kunlun (BL60), Zhiyin. Those acupints are connected with the corresponding viscera through meridians. TCM theory believes that stimulating these acupoints can free the channels and qi, recuperate qi and blood and regulate viscera functions.
2. Acupoints Massage
1) Acupoints selected: Ganshu (BL 18), Qimen (LR 14), Wangu (SI4), Pishu (BL20), Guanyuan (CV4), Zhongwan (CV12), Liangmen (ST21), Tianshu (ST25), Zhongji (CV3), Yinlingquan (SP9), Quchi (LI 11), Zusanli (ST36), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Hegu (LI 4).
Effective meridians: Ren Meridian, Urinary Bladder Channel of Foot Taiyang, Stomach Channel of Foot Yangming, Spleen Channel of Foot Taiyin.
2) Manipulation:
a. Adopt a prone position, the massager apply pushing and rubbing manipulation to two sides of spinal column by palm hypothenar, then apply rolling and kneading manipulation to it.
b. Adopt a supine position, the massager close the fore finger, middle finger and ring finger together, apply pressing and kneading manipulation to Qimen (LR14) and the around of it by the finger pulps for 10 minutes once.
c. Apply kneading and pressing manipulation to Wangu (SI4) with comfortable force by finger pulp of middle finger.
3. Cupping Therapy
Acupoints selected: Gaomaoshu, Geshu (BL17), Ganshu (BL 18), Pishu (BL20), Zhangmen (LR 13), Guanyuan, Xuehai (SP 10), Sanyinjiao, Zusanli, Xuanzhong (GB 39).
Manipulation: Cupping therapy, once a day, two acupoints as one group, select two groups each time to cupping alternately, retain for 15 minutes, 10 times as a course of treatment.
4. Foot Massage
Basic reflection areas: spleen, heart.
Related reflection areas: duodenum, pancreas, liver, small intestine.
Symptom reflection areas: lymph gland of the upper and lower body.
Reflexotherapy is taken up of 10-15 times as a course of treatment, 30-40 times each time, 1-2 times each day, the internal between two courses is 1-2 day(s). Soak both feet with light salt water to recover the sensitivity of feet to massage.
