Acupuncture Point Ximen (PC4)
Location:
Stretch the arm and supinate the palm; 5 cun directly above the midpoint of the supinate transverse stria of the wrist DalingPC7(Daling (PC7) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point), between tendons of m. palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis.
Function:
Relieving mental stress, and arresting bleeding.
Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-between tendons of radial flexor muscle of wrist and long palmar muscle-superficial flexor muscle of fingers-deep flexor muscle of finers-interosseous membrane of forearm.
In the superficial layer, there are the branches of lateral and medial cutaneous nerves of the forearm and the median vein of the forearm. In the deep layer, there are the median nerve and the accompanying artery and the anterior interosseous artery and nerve.
Indications:
Rheumatic heart disease, myocarditis, angina pectoris, Palpitation, Mastitis, pleuritis, phrenospasm, hysteria, gastric hemorrhage, epistaxis, psychosis.
Prescription:
Combined use with FutuLI18 (Futu (LI 18)) for treatment of phrenospasm; with DazhuiGV14 (Dazhui (GV14)) for treatment of epilepsy; and with ChizeLU5 (Chize (LU5)He-Sea Point) and FeishuBL13(Feishu (BL 13)) for treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.5-0.8 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, radiating toward the hand; moxibustion: using 5-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
