Acupuncture Point Yinjiao (GV28)
Regional Anatomy:
Transitional border of superior labial frenulum and upper gum-between deep surface of orbicular muscle of mouth and alveolar arch of maxillary bone.
There are the superior labial branches of the maxillary nerve, the infraorbital plexus formed by the btanches of the infraorbital and facial nerves, and the superior labial artery and vein in this area.
Location:
Proper sitting with one's back propped and lift one's upper lip; at the meeting point of the frenulum of the superior lip and the gum.
Function:
Promoting resuscitation and clearing away heat, dredging the meridians and tranquilizing the mind.
Indications:
Mental disorders, pain and swelling of the gums, and rhinorrhea.
Prescription:
Combined use with Acupuncture Single Point Dazhui for treatment of epilepsy; with Hegu (LI 4) Yuan-Source Point) and Jingming (BL 1) for treatment of conjunctivitis; and with Shangguan (GB 3), DayingST5 (Daying (ST5)), Yifeng (TE 17), and Acupuncture Single Point Chengjiang for treatment of trismus and foul breath.
Methods:
Insert the needle obliquely to upward 0.2-0.3 cun depth; needling response: local distention and pain.
Note:
The organs involved include the small intestine, the greater omentum and the onset part of inferior vena cava in the abdominal cavity, Don`t puncture deeply.
