Common postures for cupping

The therapeutic efficacy closely relates to the posture of cupping.
1. Supine position
Sufferers naturally lie on the bed and put the upper limbs flat on both side, or buckle them on the abdomen with lower limbs separated. Soft pillows can be placed below the knees.We can adopt this posture when we do cupping to the head, the chest and the abdomen, the exterior and interior lateral of upper limbs, the front and the exterior and interior lateral parts of lower limbs. 2. Prone position
Sufferers are prone on the bed naturally. Soft pillows can be placed under the chin and the chest together with the ankle joint. We can adopt this posture when we do cupping to the lower extremities and waist-hip back. 

3. Lateral Position
Sufferers naturally lie in bed with lateral position, two-leg buckling. Soft pillows can be placed below the forearms. This posture applies to do cupping to the neck, the shoulder, the rib and the lateral parts of the upper and lower extremities. Click here to read Ganglion Cyst in TCM.

4. Leaning on the armchair
The patient lies on the armchair. We can adopt this posture when we do cupping to the head, the face and the chest, the shoulder, the limb and knee, the ankle, ankles and other acupoints.

5. Bending over on the seat
The patients should bend on the armchair with their head on the back of the chair. We can adopt this posture when we do cupping to the corona capitis, the hind head and other parts of acupoints.
