Syndrome differentiation and treatment
The therapeutic methods include nourishing qi and blood, tranquilizing the heart and quieting the mind, strengthening the spleen and harmonizing the stomach as well as clearing away heat and calming the fetus. After proper treatment with Chinese herbs, vaginal bleeding will be controlled and abdominal pain will disappear. In most cases, pregnancy is successfully protected. If vaginal bleeding continues with worsened aching in the loins and abdominal pain, measures should be taken to remove the fetus to protect the mother.

1. Syndrome of insufficiency of kidney qi
Main symptoms: Slight vaginal bleeding with light color during pregnancy, aching sensation in the loins and prolapsing sensation in the abdomen, or accompanied by dizziness and tinnitus, frequent urination, or experience of abortion, light-colored tongue with white fur, deep and slippery or weak pulse over chi region.
Therapeutic methods: Nourishing the kidney and strengthening the thoroughfare vessel, stopping bleeding and calming the fetus.

2. Syndrome of qi and blood asthenia 
Main symptoms: Slight vaginal bleeding with light color and thin texture, aching sensation in the loins and prolapsing sensation in the abdomen, spiritual lassitude,flaccidity of limbs, palpitation, shortness of breath, lusterless complexion, light-colored tongue, white and thin tongue fur, thin and slippery pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Nourishing qi and invigorating blood, strengthening the kidney and calming the fetus.

3. Syndrome of interior disturbance of bloodheat
Main symptoms:  Fresh vaginal bleeding during pregnancy, or prolapsing sensation and pain in the abdomen, dysphoria and restlessness, scorching sensation over palms, dry mouth and throat, constipation, red tongue,yellow and dry tongue fur, taut and slippery or slippery and rapid pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Clearing away heat and cooling blood, strengthening the thoroughfare vessel and calming the fetus.

4. Syndrome of external injury impairing collaterals
Main symptoms: Prolapsing sensation and pain in the loins and abdomen, vaginal bleeding with purplish red color or with small blood clot after pregnancy, light-red tongue, thin, slippery and weak pulse.
Therapeutic methods: Nourishing qi and invigorating blood, strengthening the kidney and calming the fetus.
