The syndrome differentiation of enuresis centres upon discriminating whether the disease belongs to asthenia, sthenia, cold or heat. Symptoms of asthenic cold mostly include prolonged enuresis with profuse amount and frequent times, concurrent cold body and limbs, pale complexion, listlessness, hypodynamia and spontaneous sweating; symptoms of sthenic heat in most cases include yellowish and scanty urine with burning sensation during the early bed-wetting, strong body and restless sleep.Asthenic cold mostly results from unconsolidation of the kidney qi which fails to control excretion of urine due to asthenic cold of urinary bladder; sthenic heat largely originates from dampness and heat of the liver meridian. Clinically, enuresis due to asthenic cold prevails while enuresis due to sthenic heat is less.
