Syndrome differentiation and treatment
The treatment of the disease should be based on the different syndromes, with the different methods of clearing away heat and removing dampness, strengthening the spleen and tonifying the kidney, nourishing and tonifying kidney yin.

1. Dampness and heat
Main symptoms and signs: Frequent and urgent urination, burning pain of urethra, bearing-down distension of lower abdomen, chills, fever, bitter taste, sticky mouth, thirst without the desire for drink, red tongue with yellowish and greasy fur, slippery and rapid pulse and purple superficial venule of index fingers.
Therapeutic methods: Clearing away heat, removing toxin and inducing diuresis to treat stranguria.

2. Qi deficiency of the spleen and kidney
Main symptoms and signs: Longer course of disease, unsmooth and painful urination, lassitude, short breath without the desire for speaking, poor appetite,  cold body, aversion to cold, loose stools, pale tongue with whitish and thin fur, deep and thready pulse without force, and light red superficial venule of index fingers.
Therapeutic methods: Strengthening the spleen and tonifying the kidney assisted by eliminating dampness.

3. Deficiency of the kidney yin
Main symptoms and signs: Frequent and scanty urine, low fever, night sweat, dry throat and lips, poor sleep, restlessness, dizziness, tinnitus, red tongue with a little or no fur, thready and rapid pulse, dark red superficial venule of index finger. 
Therapeutic methods: Nourishing yin and tonifying the kidney.
