1. Wind-heat affecting lung:
Manifestations: spitting blood, cough, choking sensation in chest, general fever and thirst, dry nose and dry throat, fever with aversion to cold, red greasy coating.
Therapy method: relieving exterior syndrome, clearing heat; opening the inhibited lung-energy and stopping cough

2. Phlegm-heat accumulated in the lungs
Manifestations: cogh, shortness of breath, hemoptysis, chest distress, dry mouth, flushed face and congested eyes, constipation, dark urine, red yellow tongue coating.
Therapy method: eliminating phlegm, purging the pathogenic fire and stopping bleeding

3. Deficiency of Qi and Yin
Manifestations: pale complexion, shortness of breath, fatigue, dry cough with less phlegm, thin light red tongue coating.
Therapy method: tonifying qi and yin; moistening lung to arrest cough
