The most common form of kidney cancer is renal cell cancer -- accounting for 85 percent of all kidney tumors. Many factors can contribute to this disease, such as gender, smoking, family history, asbestos, diet and tuberous sclerosis. Treatment for kidney cancer is determined by your health, the type of cancer and how far it has progressed. Certain herbs such as astragalus and cat’s claw may prevent the spreading of cancer cells.
Astragalus
Astragalus has been used for thousands of years in combination with other herbs to help strengthen the body against disease. In addition to helping the body fight off diseases, astragalus contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. When using this herb as an alternative treatment for kidney cancer, it may help reduce the symptoms associated with it. This herb is available in the form of capsules, tablets and tinctures. The recommended adult dosage is 250mg to 500mg of standardized extract up to four times per day.
Cat's Claw
Cat’s claw is commonly used in treating conditions such as inflammation, dysentery, fevers, stomach ulcers and arthritis. Cat’s claw has also been used to support the immune system, prevent and abort pregnancy and promote kidney health; however, the site states that there is not enough scientific evidence to validate its effectiveness for any health conditions. Cat’s claw tea may be made by boiling up to 10g of root bark in 8 oz. of water for 15 minutes. Strain the tea and allow it to cool. You may drink tea up to three times per day.
