Diagnostic Essentials for
Acute Appendicitis in
Chinese medicine:
(1) This disease occurs frequently in young and middie-aged adults, more in males than in females.
(2) The shifting pain at the right lower abdomen is a typical clinical manifestation of this disease.
(3) The patient is often accompanied by the general symptoms of fever, aversion to cold, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, and dry stool.
(4) Tenderness, rebound tenderness and muscular tension can be seen at the McMurray point (at the juncture of the external one-third and internal two-thirds of the line between the right anterior superior iliac spine and umbilicus) of the right lower abdomen in the abdominal examination. In the laboratory examination, the obvious enhancement in the total count of peripheral leukocyte and neutrophil ratio can be seen in over 70 % of the patients.
In TCM, a disease or a symptom might be caused by one pathogenic factor, even two or three pathogenic factors. When diagnosing a disease or a symptom, TCM doctors must follow the principle of "Syndrome Dfferentiation", and then "Suit the Remedy to the Case". In order to gain a more definite and valuable diagnosis, it's important and necessary for the doctor to learn the detailed health information of the patient, including his/her disease duration, age, sex, height, weight, family history, urine, stool, diet, sleep, sweat, energy, mood (emotion), as well as the tongue conditions and the palm conditions, etc. If you would want our expert to
